Going underground

Under contract to AmcoGiffen, our engineers visited ICL UK Boulby mine to inspect and survey one of two 1000 Tonne capacity Ore Bins, where KGAL is required to design and detail a replacement bottom cone to accommodate new lining and flow management devices. All components will have to be transported to the Ore Bin via the mine's 1100m deep vertical shaft and underground roadways. The Ore Bin is used to hold freshly mined product before transport by conveyor and the material shaft to the surface. Working conditions present a challenge, with temperatures approaching 35˚C.
