There are four types of information we may gather, listed here in ascending order of detail:

  1. Non-personalised information about your visiting activity.
  2. Your name and email address if you wish to contact us via our contact form.
  3. More detailed information about you and your business if you are registering for our eNews or wanting to download certain papers.
  4. Very detailed information in any attachments sent in respect of job enquiries.

The non-personalised information is gathered for us by Google Analytics. This tool is used by most website owners as a way of tracking the activity of site visitors. The information is used to help improve the design, layout and functionality of the site. Among other benefits to us it identifies the popularity of pages, the search activity and dwell time of visitors, and the geographic source of those visitors. It also identifies a visitor’s IP address but not the individual. The data is stored by Google; they simply provide us with the subsequent reports. By using this website you should know that your visit will be tracked and stored as described.

Much of this tracking is made possible by the use of cookies. You can refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings in your browser although, by doing so, you may lose some useful functionality. You’ll find more information here.

At all other levels of information gathering, the data is kept by us and is subject to the laws and spirit of the Data Protection Act, for the purposes of which the data controller is KGAL Consulting Engineers Ltd of Bourne Gate, Bourne Valley Road, Poole, Dorset, BH12 1DY, UK. and our nominated representative is the Regional Managing Director.

We will process and keep any personal information which you provide, via our site and online forms, for our own internal business purposes, including lawful purposes relating to email newsletters and recruitment where information is sent by you via the careers email link on this site. This electronic information is stored on secure servers; it is not sold, lent or given to any third party. Information sent by post may also be retained but will not be circulated to any third party.

As a result of contacting us through this site, email exchanges with individual KGAL employees, joining with us through LinkedIn,handing us your business card at events or in person, or writing to us on headed stationery, your email address may be added to the recipient list for our occasional eNews bulletin Fluid. You may unsubscribe from this email broadcast at any time by clicking on the relevant instruction at the foot of the email itself. This will stop you from receiving any further broadcasts but will not delete your email address from our database.

The Act gives you the right to access information we hold about you. Following a written request we will provide details of any personal information which you have provided. We will also delete that information if requested to do so. For both activities, however, and as an additional safeguard, we may ask for proof of identity. If and when you contact us to ask for information by post, we shall collect your full postal address.
